“Mama’s Got Snacks” Wherever there’s water There is life Wherever there’s life There is friction Wherever there’s friction There is strife And when there’s strife... Mama’s got snacks Mama’s got snacks She spreads her arms like branches And drops you a fig Her belly bulges like a watermelon She cuts you a slice Ma I need something sour She squeezes lemon right from her tongue Cuz she’s got carrots and melons and grapes, cocoa, raisins, rice cakes A mother knows Just what’s at stake... She’s got snacks Mamas got snacks Here comes the sun She puts some rays in her basket Here comes a gun She pours the lead in her basket too When everybody runs She’s rooted like a redwood tree Cuz she’s got carrots and melons and grapes, cocoa, raisins, rice cakes A mother knows Who she needs to be... She’s got snacks Mamas got snacks She got em… Mama got snacks Sometimes Mama gets tired Of holding everybody up Feeding all those spirits Sometimes feels rough Nobody thanks her Not that she expects it And so she Sits in her own shade With cocoa, raisins, rice, cakes Sippin on sour lemonade Sour lemonade! Eating her own snacks. Mamas got snacks Mamas got snacks Mama got Mama got Mama got Mama got Mama got... Ooh ooh Ooh oh ooh oh ooh oh Ooh ooh Enough for everybody Ooh ooh Ooh oh ooh oh ooh oh Ooh ooh Enough for everybody Ooh ooh Ooh oh ooh oh ooh oh Ooh Mama’s got... Snacks.

“Voices” There was a thin center in the thicket And a voice Was on it Thin center in the thicket And a voice, ooooon It spoke in high and low tones Sharp and rigid Sharp and rigid High and low tones Sharp and rigid And everybody Wanted to see it Wanted to feel its... Origins And everybody Wanted to see it Wanted to feel it Wanted to see it And everybody Wanted to see it Wanted to feel its Origins And everybody Wanted to see it Wanted to feel it And if you brought your heart and showed where it lay Something would sound Something would sound And if you brought your heart and showed where it lay Something would sound Something would sound… But there was another thing… Crawling outside, the perimeter… In the roooose bushes Another thing Crawling outside, the perimeter In the rooose… It cracked twigs It sighed, between moans, between moans It cracked twigs It sighed, between moans It didn’t feel like a wounded creature It felt like… ICE WIND With a power As uncontrollable as a smile or stare And after awhile, you could hear both sound voices At the same time And you knew of their intentions, their intentions You knew... And after awhile, you could hear both sound voices At the same time And you knew of their intentions, their intentions… You knew where it came from You knew its moments of birth Its moments of birth Its moments of birth You knew where it came from You knew its moments of birth Its moments of birth Its moments of birth Yet somehow you couldn’t say anything (repeats x 5) (Moments of birth) Yet somehow you couldn’t say anything (repeats)

“Everything is Slow Motion” Everything is slow motion like It’s not supposed to hurt Everything is slow motion like It’s not supposed to hurt Cries rise up like the ocean tide They’re silenced by the surf Cries rise up like the ocean tide They’re silenced by the surf Knocked and bruised Slowly used Seconds beat In a tomb Knocked and bruised Slowly used Seconds beat In a tomb And...everything is slow motion like It’s not suppose to hurt It’s slow motion like. It’s not suppose to hurt For the need spoke in a child’s lie Afraid she is no good The need spoke in a child’s like Afraid she is no good Lynched, abused All reduced All is fine All is moot Lynched, abused All reduced I am fine How are you? I am fine How are you? I am fine How are you?

Watering 03:10
“Watering” We hold our hope at a watering hole Cup our hands and fill up our bowl Drink beside friend and foe We hold our hope at a watering hole ...oooh We hold our hope at a watering hole Cup our hands and fill up our bowl Let hope slip down, down our throat Can it move our soul? ooohhh... Spread mud Over my feet Press earth To my chest Spread mud Over my feet Sometimes, when I don’t know I’m at my... At my, best We hold our hope at a watering hole Cup our hands and fill up our bowl Let hope slip down, down our throat Can it move... Can it move... Our soul? Can it move? (our soul) Can it move? (our soul) Can it move? Our soul…?

about

Mia Pixley's first full length album, "Margaret in the Wild," establishes a new home beyond Pixley and her cello – a home that is truly sowed in the earth. A lifelong nature lover, who finally found her place with the help of strikingly emotional ocean swims during the pandemic, “Margaret in the Wild” represents Pixley unapologetically planting herself alongside others. The nine-track album demonstrates Pixley opening herself to the wilds of connection, to gratitude for what she has been given, as well as, to sorrow for what she has lost, and to nature’s inspirational capacity to finally root her uprooted beginnings.
