Passage 00:31
Passage – by Forrest Hamer, Ph.D. I was sitting on waves in the middle of a rocking ocean, and I looked as far as I could see in many directions and all there was, was sky. And I sent myself into each noticed thing— the ocean, and its rocking, the waves, the distances, the sky. I did this to make myself whole. I did this to survive what otherwise would sink me.

about

"Passage" is the poetic inspiration for the five musical tracks of this project. Each song sends the listener into "each noticed thing," reflecting the protagonist's attempt within the poem to survive grief.

The project opens and closes with the poem, recited by poet, scholar, psychologist, mentor, and one of the few Black psychoanalysts of our time, Forrest Hamer, Ph.D.

This project was completed while on residency at Lucid Art Foundation in Inverness. With thanks for the time and beauty.
